They began taking kids into their homes, and quickly realized that the need required a better response.<\/li>\n<li>In 1990, we were incorporated and received our charitable status, and opened our first location on Dunlop Street W. The first facility housed 6 youth, with almost all the food and items coming from donations.<\/li>\n<li>We then moved to a house on Toronto Street, where we continued to grow and serve more youth, and provide more services.<\/li>\n<li>In 2007 we celebrated our past, commemorating our 20 years of service with One Enchanted Evening, our masquerade gala.<\/li>\n<li>2010 marked another milestone when we moved to our current home on Wellington Street East, where we offer 16 emergency care beds and 5 transitional beds.<\/li>\n<li>Youth Haven provides youth experiencing homelessness and at-risk youth between the ages of 16-24 with the love, support, guidance, programs and life skills needed to foster their sense of well-being and security. As Simcoe County\u2019s only emergency shelter for youth experiencing homelessness, Youth Haven also provides outreach services and programs to at-risk youth in Barrie, Orillia, Midland, southern Georgian Bay and south Simcoe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Function&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|font_size:24px|text_align:left|color:%2327337d&#8221; google_fonts=&#8221;font_family:Roboto%20Slab%3A100%2C300%2Cregular%2C700|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal&#8221;][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1654052187466{padding-right: 15px !important;padding-left: 15px !important;}&#8221;]Our staff consists of qualified and dedicated individuals who are committed to equipping the homeless youth in Simcoe County with the life skills required to live independently; empowering them to become healthy, productive men and women.<\/p>\n<p>Youth Haven consists of a Board of Directors, an Executive Director, a Director of Fund Development, a Director of Services, a Director of Counselling, a Life Skills Coordinator &amp; Case Managers, outreach and in shelter counsellors, and several Youth Workers who ensure a qualified staff is on site 24\/7\/365.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers are a very important part of the day-to-day operations of Youth Haven.
