BARRIE UNIVERSITY STUDENT LIVES ON THROUGH DONATIONS FUNDRAISED IN HER NAME

Amanda Kelsall was 22-years-old and a student of medicine at the University of Ottawa when she was killed in a car crash in 2014.

To honour the graduate of Eastview Secondary School in Barrie, the uOttawa students initiated the sMILES for Amanda Run, which since 2014 has raised funds for various charities.

In 2021, Youth Haven was selected by the students, and the run(or other active participation virtually) raised over $5,000!

Money was also raised for the Ottawa Mission homeless shelter.

In March 2021, a virtual Mission Amanda’s “High Tea” raised $7,000 for Youth Haven!

“Amanda was a dynamic, energetic, fun-loving and committed girl,” said Sharon Kelsall, Amanda’s mom. “She had a heart and passion for people, and that is why she chose medicine.”

Thank you to everyone who participated in the fundraisers and helped carry on Amanda’s legacy of choosing to #BeTheDifference in the lives of others.
