National Volunteer Week is April 24-30

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” – Ghandi

The National Volunteer Week theme for 2022, Volunteer is Empathy in Action, affirms the strong connection between volunteerism and empathy.

One thing that has remained unchanged during this pandemic is the unwavering dedication of our volunteers. The support you give to Youth Haven reflects the theme of this year’s campaign. Each one of you has made a decision to #BeTheDifference in the lives of our at-risk youth and youth who are experiencing homelessness.  Volunteers have a spirit in them that reflects generosity, selflessness and dedication.

Time and time again, individuals, organizations, businesses, schools, churches have committed to give back to Youth Haven. Whether it is taking part in the Coldest Night of the Year walk, our Backyard Campout for Youth, preparing food for donation, volunteering to host a fundraiser, sprucing up the gardens and front lawn of our property, or to do touch-ups to the inside of our shelter and transitional home, there can never be enough ways to say thank you.

Volunteering with Youth Haven means not only do you want the best for our youth, you also want the best for your community.

On behalf of myself, the Board of Directors, our staff and our youth, thank you for volunteering.

Lucy Gowers,
Executive Director, Youth Haven
