Youth Haven is Home Sweet Home

A message from Youth Haven executive director Lucy Gowers:

This week (October 5), we celebrated a big success as we made the move back to our emergency shelter. Due to COVID-19, the shelter was vacated in April 2020. We couldn’t be more excited to be returning home and begin a new chapter.
We are grateful to the staff and management at the Quality Inn and to the County of Simcoe for their valued support in helping us to ensure that young people experiencing homelessness had a safe and healthy place that they could come to during the pandemic.
Youth Haven would also like to thank and acknowledge our community for their ongoing support. We appreciate your care, concern, and compassion. By choosing to #bethedifference in the lives of our youth, we will continue to ensure that young people experiencing homelessness have the support they need to stay safe and healthy while delivering programs and services that teach and empower them to be self-reliant and independent. Our effort has always been to continue providing critical services to youth experiencing homelessness in the safest way possible.
To our volunteers, thank you so much for helping us out. We appreciate all you did to make our move successful. We are truly grateful to you.

But most of all, I would like to thank our staff who worked hard to navigate the challenges brought on by COVID-19 the past year and a half and to prepare the shelter for the safe return of our youth. Thank you for putting your heart and passion into everything you do!
